Opportunities Open up for Girls

Barbara's program is wonderful. I have a middle school-age daughter, and Barbara's program will open up opportunities for girls to dream about bigger careers for themselves.

Similar to other SandpiperCREATIVE education projects, this environmental education program will expose girls to STEAM learning and STEAM careers while empowering them to address real-world challenges to the environment and our society.

This SUMMER camp is a stand-alone program that can be combined with SPRING AND FALL programs for a complete educational experience.

In hands-on, participatory activities in the school's classrooms and labs and in the field, girls learn about water, water sampling techniques, the importance of clean water, sources of water pollution, how the health of the rivers and their watersheds affects the health of the people and wildlife in their communities.

Graduate students and women working in related-fields serve as advisors and mentors for girls' team research projects and individual career exploration projects. They help students establish field research sites along Charles River. Girls spend part of every day outdoors on team research projects.
